Deborah Hulme posted an update in the group Leadership
1 year, 4 months agoIt’s a tough gig learning the skills to be a great leader. Where do you start? There is so much out there to read, digest and put into practice. All on top of the day job. We can spend so long reading the books and learning the different models and frameworks that the practice of leadership almost gets overlooked. And yet the practice of leadership, how I actuallly show up every day, is all that really counts.
Who am I? What do I want to leave in my wake? What does this mean for how I behave, for my use of language, for the way I regulate my emotion, for how I interact with others.
To become the leader I want to be, I must first accept the leader I am now with all the good bits and all the not so great bits (yes we all have those). Breaking myself apart to put myself back together again, as perhaps a very different and changed version of myself.
It takes courage, it takes vulnerability and an acceptance that if I want to change something out there, I need to change something in here.
Shifting habits and ‘ways of being’ cultivated over a lifetime is no easy ask. We need support and a safe space to reflect and practice and then the results are there for all to see. Life changing results that show up inside and outside of work.
What do you think?
