There a need for specific policies or incentives that will encourage companies to hire, retain, and promote women into leadership and decision-making roles, ultimately leading to better financial outcomes

There is lot of noise around meritocracy and entitlement when women agenda is taken up. Since Corporate India is far away from fair representation of women in decision making roles, we need to educate men why it is necessary to lead women in to top roles along with them. How you do it, is best left to each institution

For organisations, priority is growth, everything else, comes secondary. DEI will be a sidebar unless champions help fulfil the organizaiton’s growth mission

Ritu do you believe the real DEI accelerator is talking about and addressing other Demographic Diversities which is perhaps more compelling than Gender- Socio-economic diversity and ethnicity ? what is your view on that?

    • Focus on women and men is of utmost importance and need in my opinion today. We have not cracked that code yet .

    • Other aspects of diversity is important but will never be as prominent as gender. Organizaiton must create an eco system which is frinedly and includes all . The disabled and differently oriented people will walk in naturally in to these organizations

    • Agree. Having said that, would you agree that Socio Evonomic doversity is in the way of inclusion? also ethnicity and other social classifications may easily be in the way of representation to enable real DEI to manifest?

      • all of us have to learn and be prepared to merge with the majority and understand the workings to move ahead on a fair pace. Yes ethnicity and social classifications will have different legs of preparedness. Our mission should be to got to the grassroots level and prepare them for level playing field in the coming times.

Third would be to engage with every employee individually and in small groups with a focus on the under represented segments to understand and explain their challenges to the leaders with possible solutions

Second step would be to help leaders fulfil their goals faster and better by infusing cultural nuances in terms of staffing and customer engagement.

Some of the ways to integrate our efforts is to keep a close eye on the business objectives. How does the company operate, what they value and what are their top goals. DEI champions must understand auage. nd speak the business language

I believe world consists of unique lives. So differences will exist. We have got it all wrong. its not so much about women or men, its sheer under representation of some segments.
Organizations have to change their game in 2024 if not already started, they are very late.

The power of visualisation as a learning tool should not be underestimated. It costs nothing and yet both builds confidence and hones skills.

    • Hey Deborah, Can you provide examples of successful implementations of visualization in education or training settings?

You can also use it to further develop technical skills as you work through the specifics in your mind of what you need to do.

It’s a tough gig learning the skills to be a great leader. Where do you start? There is so much out there to read, digest and put into practice. All on top of the day job. We can spend so long reading the books and learning the different models and frameworks that the practice of leadership almost gets overlooked. And yet the practice of l…[Read more]
